Our community is open to all skills, abilities, genders, and competitiveness. Learn how to play, or hone your skills: there’s a game for everyone.

The Rules
There are really only two rules that matter. The rest is just semantics.
We are Adults . . .
Some games have refs, some don’t. More than perhaps any other sport, we rely on the honor code to keep games fair and fun. Play like the adult that you are:
If you think you’re out, go out.
If you think the thing you felt was just the air of the ball passing your leg but you’re not sure, go out
If you think your teammate is out, tell them they’re out.
If you think you’re out and no one saw it and you can get away with it, GO OUT.
. . . playing a Children's game
Play with the levity and joy that comes with that knowledge. Wear costumes, play with your opposite hand, try something different and new. Please try to maintain a level head and a positive attitude at all times. Aggressive, violent, and threatening behavior will not be tolerated at any time.
Watch before playing
The following video (not ours) does a pretty good job of reviewing the basics of how to play dodgeball. Something to keep in mind is that every league plays a little bit differently, and Bend Dodgeball is no exception to that rule. While Bend Dodgeball is in the process of developing our own “How To Play” video, keep in mind the following rule differences between our league, and the league in this video:
We play with SEVEN balls (not six).
We play with 12 players per team.
Side lines are soft boundaries not hard boundaries, meaning throws and catches made behind those lines do not count and the ref can call you out if you dodge out of bounds. The only line that is a “hard boundary” (results in immediate out) is the center line.
Headshots DO NOT COUNT, and will instead result in the throwing player being “out”. Exception to this rule is if you lean into or duck into the ball. Repeatedly throwing head height (whether contact is made or not, will result in removal from the game).
THE REST OF THE RULES.
